RE: 15" Load Range E Tires - Wheels?

Not what you probably want to hear, but when we were faced with this delimma on our TT, I opted to just go with 16" wheels (inexpensive ones) and BF Goodrich Commercial TAs (e rated). I was amazed at the difference in wear and how much better looking the tire was. Personally, I'll stick with LT tires from now on. I know some will disagree, but I just don't think trailer tires are made as well as the LT tires. I've got 6 different trailers and in general, we've given up on trailer tires for any service we care much about.
It seems like the cost was around $200 a piece for the tire & wheel mounted from discount tire. You have to check for clearance because they are a little taller.
Sorry, it doesn't really answer your question, but I found no way to tell on ours and I hated to spend money on tires that were not widely available and might not be well suited for the rim.
I suspect that the rim would be fine, but just hard to swallow that kind of money and I kept asking, why does virtually no manufacture make a 15" e-rated tire.
PS: don't forget you probably want metal valve stems with 80psi, and that you need all of the tire pressure to get the full load capability.
Also, before the switch, we had 2 tires blow on the TT in the first year or so... maybe 5000miles. 2yrs later and many more miles & load in the TT (it was a toy hauler) and never had an issue.
Thanks for all the great replies. Crash, what size tires did you get? Did you buy a generic chrome or white painted steel wagon wheel or aluminum wheel?

15" Load Range E Tires - Wheels?

Okay tire and wheel experts, hoping for an answer kinda quick....
My local friendly tire dealer can get me Maxxis 225/75/15 load range "D" or "E" tires. I've searched and have been following the various discussions on this topic, and I know that in order to run the "E" tires I need wheels that can hold the extra psi. In my case, I cannot find any info stamped on the wheels that indicates a max pressure rating. On the inside (backside) of the wheel it is stamped:
Made in USA 15x6 J.J. CT&W 04 16 2004.
These were original equipment on my 2005 Jazz. I have not checked the inside, all my current tires are still mounted.
Can I get the "E"s or should I stick with the "D"s?

RE: 16" Wheel Upgrade

I really appreciate all of this discussion, and links provided. So I'll ask a simple question: to avoid clearance issues (don't know if I have any yet as I haven't measured) I can use 16" wheels with a lower profile tire, eh? I really don't want tp flip the axles but a lift of 1 or 2 inches would be fine.

16" Wheel Upgrade

Hi,
I want to ditch the 15" wheel/tire combo on my '05 Jazz, and upgrade to 16". I searched and there's planty of info on 16" tires, I couldn't find much about wheels. Mine are 6 lug. Can I just go to the local tire store and get 16" chrome wagon wheels that match the width/offset of the stockers? Or, do I need a special trailer wheel that has a higher weight and psi rating?
thanks!

RE: Back up camera

Got mine on ebay, it's a color LCD screen 5" I think, and wired with a connector at the hitch. It came with the camera, all the wire needed (65') and the monitor. The wire then runs from the hitch to the front storage compartment, then down to the frame, then along the frame to the rear ladder, up the ladder to the roof, then over to the camera. Allows me to keep an eye on my flat-towed Jeep which I otherwise can't see with the mirrors. Works like a champ!

RE: Towing Cargo Trailer w/Fiver

Brakes would be a good idea, and is the law here in AZ over a cetain weight. I would prefer surge brakes, though my 5,000lb Jeep does not have brakes when I flat tow behind my Thor.
I would strongly recommend a rear camera, got a nice one off ebay with an LCD screen for $200. Without the camera I cannot see the Jeep behind the trailer even with extended mirrors.

RE: Toilet Swap

Thanks for the replies. I assume the Bravura is plastic and not china? Is there an advantage to one or the other?

Toilet Swap

Greetings!
Did search...didn't find much, mybe 'cause it's such a crappy subject...
I want to swap out the stock hand flush potti in my 2780BH Thor, for a better quality foot controlled unit. Looking for opinions & suggestions on which are the better units, which would swap in with minimal hassle, etc.... Looking for a unit that is easy to fill as well as flush by foot.
Sorry I don't recall what unit is in there now as the trailer is in storage, may be a Thetford(?)
